This policy explains how the Brightstreak app for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, and its widgets ("Brightstreak", "the app"), handles information. Brightstreak is published by Marjhorie D Mahinay ("we", "us").
- There is no Brightstreak account and we don't run servers that store your data.
- We don't collect your name, email, location, contacts or photos.
- We don't track you across apps or websites, and the app has no analytics or advertising SDKs.
- Your habits and progress are saved on your device and in your own iCloud, which we can't access.
- Apple Health access is optional and read only. Brightstreak never writes to Health.
- Purchases are handled by Apple.
1. Information stored on your device
Brightstreak saves what you enter and earn in the app on your device: your habits (names, emoji, colors, goals, schedules and reminder times), the amounts you log each day, your streaks and streak freezes, coins, XP and level, missions, challenges, trophies and chests, your Buddy's name, species, outfits and room, your app theme, and the custom rewards you create.
2. iCloud sync
If you're signed in to iCloud, Brightstreak keeps the same data in sync across your devices using Apple's CloudKit, in the private database of your own iCloud account. This data is stored under Apple's privacy policy. We cannot see or access it. iCloud may use Apple's push notification service to tell your devices that new data is ready. If you're not signed in to iCloud, your data stays on your device only.
3. Apple Health
Brightstreak Plus can complete habits for you using Apple Health. If you allow it, the app reads your daily step count, exercise minutes, workouts, sleep and mindful minutes, and only for habits you've linked to one of these.
- The day's totals the app reads (for example "8,240 steps") are saved only on your iPhone or iPad, in a separate store that is never synced to iCloud.
- When a total reaches your goal, the app marks that habit done for the day. That check-off, recorded as your own goal (for example "8,000 steps"), syncs through your iCloud like any other habit you complete (see section 2).
- To show your progress on widgets and your Apple Watch, today's total is also shared with them on your device and over the WatchConnectivity link described in section 5. It never goes through iCloud.
- Brightstreak never writes to Apple Health.
- Health information is never sent to us or to anyone else, and is never used for advertising or marketing.
- You can turn off access anytime in Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › Brightstreak.
4. Reminders
If you allow notifications, Brightstreak schedules habit reminders and an evening "keep your streak" nudge on your device. These are local notifications: they're created by the app on your device and aren't sent from a server.
5. Widgets and Apple Watch
To show your habits on widgets and on your Apple Watch, the app shares a copy of today's habits, streak, coins and Buddy with its widgets through a shared folder on your device. It also sends that copy to your paired Apple Watch over Apple's WatchConnectivity link between your iPhone and watch. Habits you check off on a widget or your watch go back to the app the same way. None of this goes to us.
6. Purchases and subscriptions
The Brightstreak Plus subscription is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never receive your payment details, name or address. The app receives a signed confirmation from Apple so it can turn on Plus, and this confirmation stays on your device.
7. Information we don't collect
We don't collect or receive personal information, device identifiers for tracking, precise or approximate location, crash or usage analytics, or any data from other apps. The app shows no ads. Because we don't collect personal information, we don't sell or share it.
8. Children
Brightstreak is designed for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has shared personal information with us, for example by emailing support, contact us and we'll delete it.
9. Your choices and deleting data
- Delete local data: delete the Brightstreak app from your iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
- Delete iCloud data: go to Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage, choose Brightstreak and delete its data.
- Apple Health: turn off Brightstreak's access in Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices.
- Notifications: turn them off in Settings › Notifications › Brightstreak.
- Support emails: if you email us, we keep the message only as long as needed to help you. Ask and we'll delete it.
10. Security
Your data is protected by Apple's on-device and iCloud security. Because we don't operate servers holding your information, there is no Brightstreak database that can be breached.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data. Since we hold no personal data about you, the steps in section 9 cover those requests. You can always contact us with questions.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, mention it in the app's release notes.
